Angel Jackson is my new handbag crush straight out of the UK! Launched in 2005 by sisters Katie and Millie Smith, they set out to create a fashion label that is glamorous and stylish, yet ethical. The label has been highly received for their luxurious style and has just been shortlisted for the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund for 2010.
Angel Jackson prides itself in being a fairtrade and ethical brand. They have fairtrade workshops in Bali, where all of the snakeskin used is a by product of the food industry in Asia. They also make sure their leather is from small family run tanneries in Portugal and Italy. The people in the workshops have their medical fees paid for and the kids have their school fees paid for by Angel Jackson. Kate and Millie feel that it is important to give back to their workers and the people of Bali. They even have a Bali Fund where they raise awareness and money for charities.
The collection is sophisticated yet edgy. A modern professional could wear an Angel Jackson bag to work just as easily as a 20 year old fashionista could wear one of the bags on a night out in the city. The label is regularly featured in Vogue, InStyle and Elle and can be found in stores around the world including Harrods, Selfridges and Henri Bendel. Celebrities are loving the brand as well! Fans include Gwen Stefani, Rihanna, Rachel Bilson and Lady Gaga.
