Blogger We Love: Taylor of Sterling Style

Personal Style bloggers are becoming more and more popular.  We no longer have to rely on magazines and designers to show us how to wear certain clothes or come up with unique outfits.  I get most of my style inspiration from reading fashion blogs. One blogger that has caught my eye is Taylor, from Sterling Style.  Her personal style is girly and bohemian ala Nicole Richie. Her recent obsession with pale pink hues mixed with black is what really caught my eye!  I absolutely adore her style and knew she had to be featured as a Blogger We Love.  (Also our mutual love of Marc Jacobs made me adore her even more!)

When did you fall in love with fashion?
Taylor: I knew that fashion was important to me when I was in junior high. I was so particular about what I would wear and how it was styled. I was in to grunge and thrift shopping when all  the other girls were wearing things from “Red Eye” and “Wet Seal” I was buying vintage gas station t-shirts and men’s trousers. I even wore a neon colored vintage kimono dress with yellow fishnets and combat boots to my 8th grade graduation. I wasn’t afraid to be different. Now, my style is more feminine and bohemian, but I love to experiment.

Where do you think personal style comes from?
My mother was always into style and looking good. So, she definitely had an influence on me. I also think that growing up with parents who are really into pop culture exposed me to so many movies, books, and people that were so stylish. Now, I just soak it in wherever I go. I pull from everything.

What is your opinion on fashion bloggers becoming more of an influence in the fashion world?
I think it is amazing. Fashion is everywhere on the streets and in your office. We are inspired everyday by people around us and the fact that those people are having a bigger voice in the industry can only lead to great things. 

Who is your favorite handbag designer?
This is so difficult. I am a handbag girl and love so many designers. I would have to say that Marc Jacobs makes amazing bags that can be used from day to night.

What do you look for in a handbag?
I look for simple design, a few compartments, and usually leather. I am not into really small bags unless I am going to an event.

What is your favorite bag that you own and what is one bag that you wish you could own?
Right now it is my Marc by Marc Jacobs”Totally Turnlock” bag. I love how soft and buttery it feels and it is so versatile. I am dying for the Mulberry Oversized Alex Satchel. I love that is looks professional and also super stylish! I dream of owning that bag!

For fun, what is one item in your handbag that you can't live without?
My chapstick.  I can't go 20 minutes without applying.
