Cocktail Dresses

A chic cocktail dress is the ‘must have’ this season and a perfect way to stay sophisticated and fashionable amidst all of the holiday parties, winter weddings, and late nights out on the town (for attending the opera while sipping on champagne and eating a fine four course meal, naturally). When attending any or all of the above, there are a few simple rules to follow to keep you feeling like fashionista royalty.

Alexandra De Curtis Salmon Skin Handbag

We all know that exotic skins have been long making a debut this season, but Alexandra de Curtis has taken skins to a whole new level. Using salmon skin leather instead of any alternatives, the Rita Box Clutch will let you adopt the animal skin trend with a clear conscious, as it encompasses all things "versatility, beauty and luxury." Alexandra believes that the Nanai salmon skin is a "socially responsible material" that still has the ability to look (and feel!) luxurious. Available February 2012.

Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 Ready to Wear

48 white carousel horses graced the Louis Vuitton Ready-to-Wear Spring 2012 runway show. What's that, you ask? We're talking about Spring 2012 already? Well when it comes to eye-catching collections, we can't help it. With its whimsical feel and unique apparel, the runway show reminded me of a storybook coming to life. The pastel colors and large silhouettes brought about a finesse of femininity and balance.

Handbag Designer Danielle Nicole Makes Handbags for Oprah

This past weekend Oprah took over Atlanta, Georgia for an O You! event, a day dedicated just for you! Handbag designer Danielle Nicole was nominated to make 5,500 bags for the event. I certainly wouldn't mind having that many bags by Danielle Nicole, as they are all chic, affordable and functional. Pictured above, Oprah signing her bag.

Wishlist Wednesday: Herringbone Mona Mini by Hemptress

I can always appreciate an eco-friendly line that is still able to be fashion-focused and stylish. The Herringbone Mona Mini by Hemptress is a prime example of such a description, as all of the bags made by Hemptress are made primarily of hemp and are lined with a luxurious silk/hemp blend lining (the vegan collections are lined with hemp/recycled plastic bottles).

Pan Am Handbags

You may not remember (or may not have been alive) when America's first international airline, Pan American Airlines, was established in 1927. The airline represented all things luxurious and glamorous, with celebrities and rock stars of the era embracing all that the airline had to offer: "first-class amenities, stewardesses, and of course, the Pan Am bag." Even if you weren't around for the foundation of the airline, the legacy of Pan Am is still alive today, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!

Wishlist Wednesday: Bow Front Basketweave Satchel by Elise Hope

I'm a big fan of anything feminine, striking, and functional, and the Bow Front Basketweave Satchel by Elise Hope fits the description perfectly. With its shiny basketweave exterior and metallic chain hardware, it's hard to choose just one part to focus on; however, for me, the bow is what caught my eye and is what made this baby move its way up my wishlist.
If you've been a long-time reader of the Handbago blog, you might remember our post on Follis' win of 'Best Handbag in Overall Style & Design' at the 2010 Independent Handbag Designer Awards. (If you missed that post, check it out here).

MILSKI Handbags

I can always appreciate a handbag brand that exudes luxury as well as quirkiness. As much as I love a classic style, sometimes it's nice to spice things up with a mix of elegance and edginess. MILSKI, a handbag brand from the romantic city we like to call Paris, combines the chic exterior of a handbag with a strikingly naughty lining.

Members from the Italian leather System consortium were at The Arts & Tannery Show in New York, showing off not off not one, but four big trends for 2012’s fall/winter fashion: Jurassic mood, Work Attitude, Classic Suggestions, and Remutating Flair. All of these trends have already made some kind of appearance as we begin to transition, but it doesn’t hurt to take a closer look at all of them! Jurassic Mood
