Poketo: From Art Galleries to Wallets and Handbags

Art can come in all different shapes and sizes, and for Poketo, art happens to also come via handbag and wallet. Based out of Los Angeles, Poketo works with more than 200 international artists to create and produce limited handbags, purses, messenger bags, wallets, laptop cases and shopping bags. Founders Ted Vadakan and Angie Myung married each other and established Poketo in 2003, because "making art that goes beyond the traditional gallery space is exciting," says Myung.

Working in the fashion industry, I forget that most people and consumers who actually purchase fashion designs don't know the difference between a clutch and a wallet or even a hobo and cross body. To make matters more interesting, it's not just men who have these handbag questions, but women have these confusions as well! Although all of this fashion-oriented information just comes as second nature to me, maybe we need to have a fashion intervention and information convention for all of our bagistas.
