Being a vegan or cruelty-free consumer in today's market is fast becoming an important aspect. Unfortunately, especially in the world of handbags, the trademark of luxury is leather, but with that, comes cruelty. While we don't watch cows being slaughtered for our burgers, we also don't watch them being slaughtered for our wardrobes either. For those of you vegan fashionistas, you are probably well aware of this as well as Stella McCartney's vegan Resort collection.

These bags have taken over the cruelty-free handbag world, and yet it leaves a good majority of bagistas who still love the look of leather having to choose over the well-being of their bank account or the lives of animals. Cornelia Guest has come to the rescue of bagistas and animals alike with her own vegan line that uses faux-textures of every kind that sells for under $300.

Guest stated that she would call her bags more “cruelty-free” than vegan, but either way you spin it, this development in the fashion industry is spreading far and wide. Natalie Portman is a notable celebrity who is known to embrace this lifestyle and has all her clothes, shoes, and accessories made this way. Also jumping on the bandwagon is Bill Clinton, and though Monica Lewinski would be better off meat-free than him (I hope I don't get in trouble for that), it still goes to show how just about anyone can do it.

What I love so much about vegan lines is that animals aren't sacrificed for style, and with Guest's collection, style isn't sacrificed for them either.
