We caught up with Andrea and spoke with him about the Forzieri collection.
You have such a wide assortment of bags in your collection. Tell us about what made you decide to build your own handbag business. When and how did Forzieri come to be?
Forzieri started out selling handbags in a small shop in the center of Florence in 1992. It eventually kept growing so much that we decided to share our passion for quality design internationally seeing that it was in high demand. The easiest way to do this was to sell our products online.
What is the inspiration behind the collection?
The inspiration behind each collection comes from an array of many different things but most importantly from the beautiful aesthetics and history of our environment and city itself: the historic monuments in the center, a magnificent sun setting behind the Florentine hills or a stroll over the famed Ponte Vecchio (“Old Bridge”). Even the intense perfume emanating from the rolling sunflower fields and colorful vineyards. We reinterpret the rich color of the Tuscan land and its people in cosmopolitan terms.

Our strong desire to be original, stand out, offer distinction that can’t be found anywhere else sets us apart from other brands. Our products are versatile for the everyday woman but extraordinary in their details. In fact, one of our strong points is the high quality of the materials we use. Intense and constant research for the best leather and hardware combined with sleek yet wearable design creates a totally unique synthesis exclusive to Forzieri handbags.
Forzieri bags are so luxurious and elegant. I see that they are all handcrafted by Artisans in Florence, how long does it take to create a handbag?
We don’t really have a specific time frame for each bag. It depends on a number of different factors: the type of leather being used, the tinting process for example if there is a new or unique hue, if a bag has a more complex form or features more hand-finished detailing. Our ethos is quality not quantity. We are not interested in mass production and our trusted customers know and understand this concept. They are willing to wait whether it’s three days or three weeks for one of our bags.
