Handbag Review: Mondrina

Although it is agreed among most bag connoisseurs that you can't go wrong with a classic black bag, I will always have a soft spot in my heart for a killer handbag in a delicate, feminine hue. With my everlasting penchant for all things feminine and fresh, Mondrina stole my Handbago heart as soon as I saw the latest collection for summer 2012. When carrying a Mondrina bag, it is hard to not feel exactly like the bohemian babe in their summer 2012 lookbook. I had the utmost pleasure reviewing three bags from their latest collection, all in a light and airy color scheme that instantly loved- Fairy Dust and Bowder Buff.

Avani Wristlet available for $175

The first item I got to take a peep at was the Avani Zip Cosmetic Wristlet in Powder Buff. Small and simple, this wristlet is perfect for a busy day running errands or a cute date out on the town. The wrist strap is removable, converting this small clutch into a cosmetic case or a chic coin purse. The Avani Zip Clutch features embossed leather and I liked that the nickel hardware was really sturdy. I really feel like this clutch is durable enough to swing along on my arm throughout my busy day.

Mirabelle available on Handbago.com for $275

The Mirabelle Envelope Clutch in Fairy Dust was the next bag I took out for a spin. This bag is far more detailed than the Avani wristlet, combining Mondrina's signature whip stitch and a beautiful texture block detail. Although this embossed leather bag can be worn as a roomy clutch, I decided to rock the detachable cross body strap. I found the strap to be a bit long on my shorter frame when worn over my shoulder, but it fit perfectly as a cross body. I loved that the purse had a magnetic snap closure (since I am always in an out of my handbags) and that the three interior pockets made it easy to find important items fast. I would have liked to have seen a more luxurious interior lining. But who am I kidding, I always tend to get the inside of my purse dirty and cotton is the easiest to clean! Overall, the Mirabelle is great for the Bagista who needs a versatile bag that can easily transition from day to night with ease and most importantly, style.

Available on handbago.com for $325

My personal Mondrina favorite happens to be fashion consultant, Tim Gunn's, favorite as well! The embossed leather Chandra Foldover Clutch is one of Gunn's picks for "the perfect summer bag" and I couldn't agree more. This bag is one of the most unique that I have seen thus far this season. The Chandra in Powder Buff is the perfect color to transition into the Summer heat and the rounded contours bring the "boho chic" vibe that I strive for in almost all of my looks. As an oversized clutch, the Chandra naturally fits underneath the arm and the circular handle turns into a unique center point framed by the signature Mondrina whip stitch. I did not use the detachable strap as I felt it was a little awkward, but I enjoyed wearing the Chandra as a tote- I really wanted to show off my new curves!

It's official, I am a Mondrina fanatic. I truly feel lucky to have been able to test these beauties out instead of drooling over them on the internet. I didn't even realize how vastly versatile they all were! The soft leather in even softer hues had me in handbag heaven and I appreciated the thought that was put into the smaller details such as the whip stitching, durable hardware, and the delicate silhouettes. If you can believe it, the Mondrina line for Summer 2012 includes even more outstanding pieces in dreamy colors and bohemian styles. Take it from me (and Tim Gunn), these are the perfect pieces for your summer collection!
