Handbag Review: Pure Insanity

It is not often that the Handbago team gets to hand select the bags that they would like to review. However, I was lucky enough to be introduced to Pure Insanity last month and I got to choose the bag that I wanted to see in person (every bagista's dream come true)! While browsing through their web page to select the bag I was most interested in, I started to realize that these bags are not just your run of the mill handbags, these are truly inspired pieces of art. Although it was hard to choose just one, I decided the Abelie Tote was definitely a must see.

Pure Insanity's ABELIE is modeled by ANNIE A.
The creator of Pure Insanity, Lika Brutyan, displays her love of photography, creativity, and uniqueness through fashion. Her handbags range from totally sleek totes to rugged, unfinished clutches- most of them displaying her very own photography. I chose the Abelie Tote because I felt that the image on the bag was a beautiful centerpiece against the simple, dark leather. In person, the photograph of a mysterious woman appears to be hand painted directly onto the bag. From far away, the photograph looks like an abstract painting, but up close the photograph is very detailed.

The first thing I noticed about the bag was how soft it was. The Abelie bag is made with Chocolate Bomber premium leather, front and back. Although the shape is very structured, the bag itself is unbelievably soft and pliable. The top of the Abelie tote opens up to reveal two deep inner pockets. My iPhone fit perfectly into the smaller pocket and the larger one was big enough to fit a large wallet in. Also, my laptop also fit in the main compartment with room to spare. I felt that my belongings were more secure in the deep compartments, which was good since the bag does not have fastening to keep shut.

Fashion wise, the Abelie bag can be dressed up or down with ease. Annie, the model for this review, has a very artistic and relaxed look and this bag was a perfect compliment to her casual style. I was surprised at how easy the Abelie handbag is to carry. One can hold it by the handle, fold it over as a clutch, or hang it loosely on the arm.

Overall this bag is artsy, easy, and surprisingly convenient. The only thing I would add might be a magnetic closure to keep my belongings from falling out, but the depth of the bag definitely made up for it. The quality of the leather and the personal and artistic touches from Brutyan are what make this bag special. I have always thought of fashion and art as being one in the same. Perhaps that is why I am so obsessed with Pure Insanity!
