Handbago Review: Fossati US Exotics

Fossati US is a handbag designer specializing in exotics. Based out of New York, designer Catherine Fossati Healy created Fossati US to design luxury exotic bags to last through the seasons. She puts it perfectly, "A luxury handbag should stay in style."

Kristina, Jessica and I took Fossati's Capri Shoulder Bag and Venice Evening Clutch out to downtown Los Angeles…since we were in the area for LA's Market in the Fashion District. What do I think of these designs? One word: luxe. Oh wait, one more: mod.

Lizard is making a serious come back this season and Fossati has done it  elegantly with the Venice Evening Clutch. A simply designed clutch with magnetic closure and just the right amount of print. Great for women of all ages for an evening out. It's not glitzy or over-the-top and great for taking on any evening out whether with friends or a date.

The Capri Shoulder Bag is all mod and exotic. A python skin body and leather trim, a magnetic closure, an almost 1960's mod look and an optional leather strap. When I see this bag, I think of the older and mature woman. A perfect bag to take on a day-to-day basis and not too big nor too small. If you're the woman who has to carry everything, this might not work for you. However, this exotic bag is great for the woman with a mature taste in accessories, but doesn't need to worry about hauling the kitchen sink.

What do I want to see from Fossati US in the future? An everyday handbag for the younger woman. While the Capri Shoulder Bag is a great everyday handbag for a more mature taste, an everyday exotic design with a less 1960's look would help round out this beautiful exotic collection. Maybe a python skin tote or bucket bag for a casual look, I would love to see a design to appeal to women in their mid-twenties and thirties.
