New York Fashion Week: Street Style

Now that Fashion Week insanity is slowing down, we can finally talk
trends and dish on what we’ve seen, and what we’re still melting over. Colors were
vibrant and dramatic, fabrics shimmering and luxurious and the runways were just
what we expected – magical. The dominant themes were bold patterns, tailored
items in cool contrasting colors, florals galore, sheaths and structure to die for. We
will dissect highlights from our favorite shows (and of course, how to wear the new
trends where to buy them, when to spend, and more importantly when to save), but
for now, we want to focus on the street-style scene. For us, fashion week means not
only going to shows and after parties, but getting to spend time with our equally
fashionable friends and counterparts. That’s the unquestionable dynamic of the
season. It seemed as if everyone was snapshotting the effortlessly cool fashionista
scene outside Lincoln Center. The reason we so adore personal style blogs, is not
only because well, we have one, but also because it captures the essence of what
fashion is at its core; representing who you are, on your own platforms, and wearing
whatever it is that makes you feel good! It’s about wearing a million trends if you
want (not advised), wearing none if you so please, trying to mix and match, and
stylize your wardrobe according to you. The blogs can get a little hazy now and
again, because as with anything else, imitation can ensue. But ultimately, the
quintessence of a style blog, remains the same – the fundamental reason street
stylers are getting so much buzz, is because originality, stylishly speaking, is like a
breathe of fresh air! Stay tuned to the streets, because fashonista fatefuls are
standing behind their blogs and that remains the ultimate instant way to get a
glimpse into another wardrobe for inspiration.

Get the Look!
The street style look: wear whatever you want! But really, a simple guide follows:
Start with a basic, a tank dress, a maxi, or a pair of skinnies. Then up the anty,
by adding on some dazzling toppers and accessories. This means, go for that
sequined jacket you’ve been waiting to wear, chains? Sure!, feathers? Why not!.
Layer if you wish; a silk blouse under a heavy knit, some chambray, or a patterned
kimono jacket. Mix in some patterns and luxurious fabrics. Florals, polka’s, leopard
print with pops of color, silks, chiffons, and of course, leather pants. My moto
is ‘platforms, the higher the better!’ I stick to platforms (and now that we’re turning
into Spring, flatform sandals), because they are (usually) comfortable and some
height always helps. But on those off days, lace-up or motto boots will definitely do
the trick. If it’s jacket season, a (faux) fur is always a yes in my book, camo jackets,
leather bombers are all must-haves. Don’t forget about your jewels! Layer your
gems, because wearing statement pieces are a necessity! And, lest we forget! Use
your handbag as the ultimate statement! The bag brings the entire look together.
Choose a really incredibly intricate clutch or a luxe leather bag with dramatic
detailing.

This Costella Fold Bag, has pyramid rivets, zipper closure, and could not scream chic
any louder. It’s the perfect add on to any fashion week and beyond ensemble. The
stud detailing on top of the amazing snakeskin is so interesting that it can be the
center of your outfit when paired with gold gems and bold colors!

This mini suite case, is perfect for the fierce fashionista on the go! Take it with you
on your daily travels, bring it to work then out on the town. It’s the perfect size and
structure, and did we mention the black leather imitation snakeskin? A dream come
true!
