Rebecca Handbags: Whimsical Bags for Fashionistas

Rebecca handbags are fun, gorgeous bags for the modern woman. The designs are unique yet still functional. I love all of the different designs and colors! From totes to clutches, this collection has got it all. She's even adding some jewelry too! My favorite bag is the Jane Sling/Wristlet because I'm all about throwing on a cross body bag and heading out the door! After viewing the Rebecca website, I quickly contacted her to find out more!
How and when did Rebecca bags get started?
Rebecca Handbags was started in 2008, inside a little pink walled office. Before the pink office I attended an Art Institute in Miami where I received my Accessory Degree. In my final quarter I entered my Overgrown Tote into the Independent Handbag Designer Awards, and became a finalist in the Best Student Made Handbag. I was rushed to New York City, where our items were featured in the Henri Bendel window. While there I was approached by several shops asking to carry my handbag and as a result …..here I am!
What is your signature design style?
As a designer I really try to bring something new and funky to the accessory world. I’ve always been a really simplistic kind of girl; when I design a piece I think of how I can keep the design simple but bring a bit of edge and whimsy to the look. When I designed the Circle Clutch I wanted to keep the look clean (no hardware, or extra frou frou) and have the shape of the design be the main focus.
What can you tell us about the collection?
The conception behind each bag is function, with a twist of whimsy. I’m really into creating bags that have a different shape to them, something that a person would have to stop and take a second look at. I use simple materials that don’t take away from the shape of the design. Our new collection for next season will focus on our bird logo; feathers, bird cut outs, etc.
What is your best selling piece?
Currently our best selling piece is the Katie Tote, and the Circle Clutch. Our customers say they are drawn to the unique shape and materials used to construct the bag.
Who is the Rebecca bag designed for?
I design for a fashionable lady who is looking for something unique. Someone who doesn’t want to see a dozen other women carrying her handbag.
What are your plans for the future?
We’re planning on expanding our line, possibly introducing a line of belts. We recently introduced a line of simple, whimsical jewelry pieces and are excited to showcase them at Accessories The Show this month.
Who are some designers you look up to?
I think the number one designer I look up to is Alexander McQueen, especially his shoes! I love his artistic designs, and how he pushes the box of traditional design. I also love Marc Jacobs, his accessories are always something that is simple but with a little twist.
Which is your go-to bag?
I have been carrying my small over the shoulder Jane Sling/wristlet. It’s great when you’re on the run, fling it across your body and your good to go! My every day bag is the Katie tote, big enough for me to carry all of my essentials.
And just for fun, What's one thing you always have to carry with you in your bag?
One thing I always carry is a good lip gloss. I have the Buxom lip plumping gloss from Bare Essentials, it’s amazing!
