Senior Accessories Editor at ELLE Magazine, Kyle Anderson, Talks with Handbago

When I think of a 'dream job,' having any association with a fashion and beauty magazine is the first thing that pops up in my mind. In between attending fashion events, viewing new accessories collections and working on editorial materials, you get the luxury of having intimate, one-on-one interactions with fashion and accessories designers. Kyle Anderson is among those whose job in the fashion industry can be seen as a dream job. Being a senior accessories editor at ELLE magazine can be crazy and stressful, but Kyle tells Handbago that at the end of the day, it's all worth it.

For the past 6 and 1/2 years, Kyle has been living out his dream job of working at ELLE magazine, finding fun, innovative and unusual things that inspires ELLE readers to either shop or reflect on their own personal style. "My favorite part about my job is seeing new things," he says. "I get bored easily, so being able to see original things every minute of the day is stimulating and exciting."

A typical day in the life of Kyle Anderson is usually crazy. "I think I should do a 'win a day with @KyleEditor' on my website to see what other people think," he joked. He spends his days doing a variety of tasks: going to market appointments to preview new accessories collections, talking one-on-one with designers (or the person who does their press) to hear about their inspiration, and editing ELLE stories. At night, he is accustomed to attending various events such as product launches and store openings, as well as meeting with different designers for dinner or drinks.

Recently, Kyle attended Fashion Week in Milan, where despite the 'slow' nature of European culture (compared to his fast-paced lifestyle in New York), he had a gratifying experience and was surrounded by his blogger friends, models and photographers. Fashion Week in Milan consisted of showing up to a ton of parties, shows, showrooms, and dinner meetings with different designers. "It's pretty tiring, as we all had jet-lag and they are all Italian so for them staying up until 1 in the morning to have a late dinner is fine!"

To Kyle, fashion is about the image you want to show people. It's not about money, but it's about style and how you put pieces together. As for his own personal style, he is delving into an "all black and leather" phase, and is looking forward to incorporating black fur into his look when the weather gets colder.

Like anyone who has a passion for fashion and accessories, Kyle has his favorites too. Here's the scoop!

What is your all-time favorite handbag/designer?
It's a tie between Hermes and Chanel. The classics.  

What is your favorite trend for fall in terms of fashion?
Fur. I love fur coats and fur boots. I loved the entire F/W collection of Givenchy. It's brilliant. Every single piece.  

What is your favorite trend for fall in terms of accessories?
There was a big trend of feline inspiration from animal prints to shoes that look like cat feet, to all of the fur accessories to the huge variety of panther pieces in Givenchy’s collection. There are so many things inspired by animals not just prints.

After having so many amazing experiences and meeting so many talented and inspiring people, Kyle explained to me how lucky he feels. "Working at ELLE is my dream job," says Kyle. "I’m so lucky that I’m doing exactly what I dreamed of doing my whole life... it's really rewarding."
