Sukari Handbags for 2012: Making Life Sweet!

The New York based designer Alicia Ferriabough Taylor, is revitalizing the art of indulgence.  Sukari, meaning "sweet" or "sugar" in Swahili, is releasing their 2012 handbag and accessory line all inspired by Alicia's world travels. These artisan crafted bags are the epitome of luxury and opulence. Sleek, structured lines compliment the architectural elements of the hardware used.

I was lucky enough to speak with Alicia about her inspirations for her latest collection.  While traveling she found the the fashion and the architecture of the different cultures where what truly inspired her. "I also use different skins to achieve a certain texture I like, or even color's that stand out to me" says Taylor.  Taylor described her aesthetic as being "Classy, earthy, and sophisticated." Her bags have organic elements paired with polished details that makes this collection absolutely ideal.

"If I could revisit anywhere that I've traveled I would go back to Italy.  But this time I would go somewhere I haven't been in Italy before, like the Malti Coast!  Yes, I would love to visit the Malti Coast" exclaims Taylor.  Her high energy and love for life is so inspiring.

From The Milan bag made of lamb skin and ostrich, to the Bermuda clutch (my favorite!) in sassy apricot, Sukari has taken us to the far ends of the Earth sharing cultural finds and fusing them with modern elegance.
