Mondrina

Mondrina is a beautiful collision of ethnic and urban; ancient and up to the minute. It is a unique collection of vibrant handbags that holds history in both its inspiration and manufacture. A product of Peru, Mondrina is engendered via intricate craftsmanship techniques that date back to the region’s pre –Hispanic period. They are implemented today by ancestors of these indigenous Andeans who work closely with Italian Peruvian leather workers; both contributing their own artistry and acumen. Naturally, the brand’s flagship store exists within a converted, historic home, set amongst art galleries on Avenue Grau in the Barranco district of Lima.

Perhaps what is most unique about the brand, is the perspective from which it is brought to life. Creative Director, Monica Frisbie, splits her time between Lima Peru and her hometown located in New York’s iconic Hampton town of Sag Harbor. Monica draws her inspiration from these two contrasting seaside residencies -bursting with flavor, culture and style. “When I think of the Mondrina girl I picture a confident, free-spirited woman reveling in her nomadic lifestyle; embracing a world off the beaten path,” she explains. “She looks for beauty and luxury in unlikely places, and makes an adventure of the hunt.”
