Last month, Follis won the top prize for Best Handbag in Overall Style and Design at the Fourth Annual Independent Handbag Desginer Awards (IHDA).  The event took place on June 16, 2010 at Parsons the New School for Design in New York.  Shown above, the winning handbag is called the "Laced Julia" and is made of soft, chocolate brown leather, with crisscross lace detail and a clam shape.  The bag is part of Follis' Fall 2010 collection and will be released in September.

Lena Erziak, one of our favorite designers right now, was recently featured in the August issue of InStyle magazine.  We are so excited that they are getting the recognition they deserve!

Givenchy classic handbags are back again and have been revamped for Fall 2010.  Their signature Pandora Messenger and popular Nightingale satchel are available in beautiful textured and shiny leathers.  This is a definite must have investment piece that ever girl NEEDS to have in their handbag wardrobe.  The Nightingale is now available in four colors navy, black, dark purple and lilac.

The Navoh Handbag Collection has recently been featured in a variety of fashion magazines as a great alternative to the expensive designer bag.  With its' entire collection retailed under $100, this collection is definitely gaining reputable respect in the fashion world as affordable yet amazingly stylish.  It has caught the fashion eye of several accessory editors at In Style, O Magazine, Lucky, Life & Style, and Siempre Mujer magazine.

There are many designers that offer sustainable options in handbags, but none are as eco conscious as the Elle Portable Light Project Bags.  Elle magazine teamed up Sheila Kennedy from Portable Light Project to come up with solar paneled bags.  Designers including Diane Von Furstenberg, Loomstate, Tommy Hilfiger and Loeffler Randall designed one-of-a-kind bags for the project.

There is always this pinnacle moment where we come to a realization during our quest for the perfect bag and wonder "how much did this bag really cost to make?".  It's a question that crosses all of our minds and this definitely comes to my mind when I see this Prada BYOBag Collection.  I mean really?!?  I'm an true fan and owner of Prada (I have a two pocket messenger and small shoulder bag) , but this is just a little too kitschy for my taste.
