The sun is officially out and if you're anything like me, you spend your days sitting behind a computer, gazing out the window at the blue skies day-dreaming about being 10 again and summer vacation. If I'm lucky I may find myself meandering down to the pool for an hour or so on the weekend, where I then once again sit behind my iphone and work, so today I am sending out the message that we need to make some changes and stop reminiscing of the summer breaks we had as children and start reliving those sun drenched days of sprinklers, summer camp, sand castles and tree climbing.

Our latest eco-friendly obsession is Hemptress handbags made primarily from hemp. Now, I must give credit where credit is due, I was introduced to Hemptress handbags after my esthetician mentioned how much she loved them. I promptly went home and discovered this fabulous, eco-conscious line. Hemptress was created by Hakan and Arlene Nilsson in 2010.

Elaine Turner has been designing handbags for her company since the year 2000. After working in apparel, she gave in to her love of accessories and started her handbag line. Her collection is absolutely gorgeous and is all about fun, bold colors and great prints. Her designs evoke dreams of faraway vacations while at the same time being chic enough to wear to work or on the weekend. We caught up with Elaine to learn more about her collection.

Marissa Designs: Zip Line Collection of Handbags

Marissa Del Rosario created her handbag company in 2007. She wanted to design handbags and share her unique vision with other women. Her second collection of handbags, called Zip Line, focuses on the zipper. She lines the outside of the bags with zippers to create beautiful designs! I am definitely into the zipper trend and this collection makes me love it even more!

How cool is this bag?! With black suede interior and both a cell and blackberry pocket this sweet super unique bag is truly one of a kind! What I love about 1G Collection is that the founder and creative director, Stasia Reisfield, believes that her handbags should enhance the appearance of the wearer, rather than drawing attention to the marketing label like so many handbag companies do today.

Katherine Fleming handbags have been on my mind since we first featured her collection a couple weeks ago. I knew I had to learn more about this innovative designer! Featured in Vogue, WWD, Nylon, and Harper's Bazaar, this former Design Director of Acessories at Tory Burch decided it was time to start her own collection. Katherine Fleming handbags are all handmade and use Italian materials. Her unique designs and gorgeous color palette are truly exquisite!

After working in London and New York, interning for Zac Posen, Katherine launched her collection in Spring 2007. What makes Katherine Kwei handbags so unique is her luxurious materials and signature Chinese Eternity knot inspired weave.
